Netanyahu thanks pope for exoneration - Israel News, Ynetnews: "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday for his exoneration of the Jews for the death of Jesus Christ.Considering all believers in Jesus Christ are complicit in His crucifixion, one does not want to go around pointing fingers. If only one of us is guilty of sin, Jesus was sent to the cross for us. This is our spiritual culpability in the historic event. However, those that were responsible, that day, for the actual event, were the Jews. The pope, under whatever authority he thinks he may have, has indicated that this responsibility is not to be found in scripture. Let's review:

In new book, Benedict XVI explains biblically and theologically why there is no basis in Scripture for accusations against Jewish people as a whole"
In Mathew 27, Pilate, the Roman governor and all around bad guy, was trying to convince the mob (of Jews) that he should release Jesus because he found no evil in him. However at the insistence of the priests in the crowd, the people (Jews) called out to crucify him. Here it is. Pilate: "What evil has he done?"
Jews crying out all the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified!"
Pilate then washed his hands, literally, of the matter saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just person". And all the people (Jews) said, "His blood be on us and on our children".
It is pretty clear here. Does the pope have authority to supersede scripture? That is not to be. Should we continually and forever condemn the Jews for this? Are they never to be forgiven? Yes. They can be washed in the blood of Jesus. Their sins can be forgiven. God is a forgiving God; so much so that He gave His only son to be put on the cross by Jews and the rest of us who believe. God help the Jews and God help us. There is no exoneration outside of Christ.
