Update - Now our president can be seen with Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff, who in her youth was arrested as a marxist rebel. Should the President of the United States embrace this type of person? Apparently, he see no problems with his associations.









Can anyone imagine Ronald Reagan or even Lyndon Johnson appearing on a comedy show such as Jon Stewart's Daily Show? A president had not even appeared on late night talk shows such as Johnny Carson's until President Obama appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 19, 2009.

China-United State Trade Deficit

Trade war with China? Looks like the United States is already in a war and is losing badly. Below, you will find an older post of the problem that has only gotten much worse. The table as been updated. Scroll to the bottom and see how much of our money has been plundered.

Recently, the US has reached an agreement with China regarding its exponentially growing trade deficit. Much will have to be made up if the United States is to recover the trillions of dollars already lost to our ever-growing powerful enemy. As of 2009, over $2 trillion dollars have been shipped overseas in exchange for temporary, cheap goods. The American people have knowingly given their money to this communist nation. Consequently, the US standard of living has decreased and many good jobs have been lost. 

The table below shows the yearly trade deficit the United States has with China from the beginning of our trade relations with that country. For example in 1985, China shipped $6 million more goods to the US than we shipped to them. In 2009, the imbalance ballooned to almost $227 billion. It was just 1972 when Nixon made his famous trip to open up a dialog. Only 13 years later, the deficits begin.

America Once Feared Catholics

In a recent newspaper article, the author gives us a small history lesson. She indicates that in the 1920s, America once feared [Roman] Catholics. She gives some fairly frightening descriptions of the persecution Catholics went through at that time. The insinuation is that we persecuted Catholics at that time because they were different from us thinking they were going to overthrow our government by taking orders from the pope. 


This is happening today, according to the author, when we fear Muslims. They too, we say, are staging an overthrow of the government. However the difference between the Catholics of the 1920s and those who follow Islam today is that you never had Catholics blowing themselves up all over the world. Catholics did not kidnap and kill their captives. They got along well with their neighbors and were a general benefit to the societies in which they lived. Can we say the same for those who follow Islam? Certainly not all or even most Muslims are violent. However to say that we have nothing to fear from them and should treat them in a similar fashion as we do Roman Catholics is naive and dangerous. We need to see the threat as real and stop deceiving ourselves.

North Carolina Constitution of 1776

This truth is self-evident: the United States was founded by Christians for Christians. The founders had no intention of other religions being treated in the same fashion as Christianity. Freedom of religion was was established so that no denomination would have supremacy over another denomination as it had in Europe. 

Section 32. "That no person who shall deny the being of God, or the truth of the Protestant religion, or the divine authority of either the Old or New Testaments, or who shall hold religious principles incompatible with the freedom and safety of the State, shall be capable of holding any office, or place of trust or profit, in the civil department, within this State."

From the early 4th century, when Christianity became legal in the Roman Empire, Jerusalem developed as a center of Christian pilgrimage. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher and many other Christian shrines were erected. Except for a brief period of Persian rule (614-28) the city remained under Roman (later, Byzantine) control until 638, when the Muslim Arabs took Jerusalem. The Arabs built (688-91) the Dome of the Rock mosque on the site of the Temple.

In the 11th century, Muslim toleration of both Jews and Christians gave way to persecution under the FATIMID caliph al-Hakim (r. 996-1021) and under the SELJUKS, who seized Jerusalem in 1071. European Christendom responded by launching the CRUSADES. The Crusaders conquered Jerusalem in 1099 and established a Crusader state. SALADIN recaptured the city for the Muslims in 1187, and the Ayyubid and Mameluke dynasties ruled until 1517, when the Ottoman Empire took control.

In 1917 the British occupied Jerusalem, and it became the capital of mandated PALESTINE from 1923 until 1948. During this period the city saw Arab rioting against the Jews. The 1948 United Nations partition plan for Palestine called for internationalization of the city. The Arabs rejected this resolution, and, from 1949, Jerusalem was divided into an Israeli and a Jordanian sector.
