Should you be able to do anything you want with your body?

Well should you?

Should you be able to use drugs such as heroin?
Should you be able to commit suicide?
Should you be able to do perverted things with animals?
Should you be able to do perverted things to yourself?
Should you be able to do _______  if it "doesn't hurt anybody?"

As some of us say to our children, whatever sins you commit alone effect the entire family. Anyone who has been in a family has lived this. A drunk father, a straying mother, a child who cheats in school - the transgressions range from small to great, but each effects not only the individual, but the entire family. Equally, the sins committed on an individual basis in our society effects each of us. When you think you are alone, you are really part of a group - a family, a town, a country. Your actions either add to the structure and fabric of us all or they help to tear us apart. There has been enough tearing down. It is time to build up. We are not an island. Virtue matters even when alone. It's harder than the selfish route, but is something that is desperately needed in our day.

Casey Anthony, Why Didn't You Kill Your Baby Two Years Earlier?

So here we are in the midst of yet another drawn out trial about some crazy person doing harm to another for no apparent reason. This one centers around yet another woman in her early twenties who appears to have wanted to stay young and single; playing, dancing, and living it up just like she used to before she got herself pregnant. Problem is, she did get herself pregnant. Many young woman then find that their night lives are dramatically changed. They can no longer dance the night away, hang out with friends, and go shopping. Yes. It is time to grow up and be an adult. The transformation is difficult for some. For others, it is easier and more natural. 

It was very difficult in Casey Anthony's case. She could not resist the urge to go out and be the center of attention, to be young and carefree. But now there were cares in her life and they would infringe on who she wanted to be. Her solution? Get rid of her baby girl.

If only she had planned ahead. If only she had a little forethought. Like many girls in their early twenties, she should have known what having a little girl would do to her social life. Millions of young girls have been and continue to be in her situation. They need to get out and live it up while they are still young. No. Adulthood and adult responsibilities are not for them and there is nothing that will stand in their way. They are free and they intend to stay that way. If only Casey knew just a little earlier what many of those other young girls know. If only she knew it two years before she could have killed her little girl and would have had the support of many of us today. You see two years before, Casey could do the same unthinkable thing to her little girl. Today she is being tried as a monstrous killer, but just two years earlier she could have killed her little girl not with duct tape and chloroform, but in the sterile confines of an abortion clinic. Same result. Same death. Same mother.

Abortion - A Medical Procedure

I get a medical procedure when I need cancer cut out of my body or I will die. I get a medical procedure when I have a gash on my leg and it needs to be stitched up. I get a medical procedure even when my nose it too big and it makes my face look ugly. In all of these medical procedures, something bad is turned into something good. Cancer will kill me, my leg will remain open and it will get infected, I will remain ugly. However, what happens when you do not have a "medical procedure" to abort your baby? Do you succumb to some disease that will kill you? Will your body get infected? Will you remain ugly? No. The horrible result will be that you have a beautiful baby. A true miracle will result that will change your life. This miracle will prevent you from going to parties and hanging out with friends as much as you did before. It will make you spend more money than you ever thought you had. It will make you go crazy sometimes. But in the end, it is a blessing. 

Abortion is not a medical procedure like any other.
